[[abstract]]The maximum seismic resisting limit for Hi-Tech buildings is about 200 gal. When the building foundation is subject to more than 200 al, the resulting acceleration will cause damages to various facilities. A simple damper may not have sufficient capacities to protect the building and facilities. Using multiple simple dampers to provide sufficient protecting capability is not cost-effective in addition to being difficult for future renovation. In this research, a seismic isolation elevated floor system is proposed and tested by installing Velocity Dependent Hydraulic Damper, VDHD as a shock absorption element in a Hi-Tee factory building.
