The article is an analysis of the methods of knowledge of family businesses resulting from the review of literature on the subject, as well as resulting from own experiences. The review aims to raise awareness of methodological research of family businesses in Poland and includes both quantitative and qualitative methods. The methods’ analysis is not sufficient and covers only methods and research techniques, with which the authors have to deal with in practice. The authors of the article suggest that methodological pluralism is worth disseminating, can be combined in the one research program with the various research methods that lead to describe a test of the family business in its whole complexity
