Organizational culture of project teams : case study of teams in higher education institution

Over the past decades there have been significant changes in the functioning of organizations. Uncertain environment, rapid technological changes and the growing expectations of employees forced companies to make changes in their functioning. Repetitive, routine operations slowly lose their importance for unique ventures, with a high degree of innovation - the projects. The purpose of this article is to compare the culture of the project team with the culture of the hierarchical team. The article seeks to answer the research question: “What are the characteristics of a culture of a project team in comparison with the culture of the hierarchical team?”. In order to resolve this problem the author has undertaken qualitative case studies that compare two organizational structures in a large, non-public higher education institution in Poland
