The portrayal of Prague in the works of Jan Neruda

Celem pracy jest przedstawienie motywu Pragi w dziełach dziewiętnastowiecznego czeskiego pisarza Jana Nerudy, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem faktu, że był on rodowitym prażaninem. Pierwsza część pracy poświęcona jest samemu miastu i sposobom przedstawiania go w literaturze. Drugi rozdział to krótka biografia Jana Nerudy i charakterystyka jego twórczości. Ostatnia część skupia się na obrazie Pragi w poszczególnych dziełach pisarza, zwłaszcza w opowiadaniach i felietonach.The aim of this dissertation is to present the motive of Prague in the works of 19th century Czech writer – Jan Neruda, with the consideration that Prague was author’s hometown. The first part of this work is dedicated to the issue of this city itself and the ways in which it is presented in literature. The second chapter comprises a brief biography of Jan Neruda, as well as a characteristics of his work. In turn, the last section focuses on the image of Prague in the particular Neruda’s works, especially in stories and feuilletons
