The art of interpretation of early music. The propositions of Jordi Savall and John Eliot Gardiner from a perspective of musical criticism

Wybór tematu prezentowanej pracy jest wynikiem zainteresowań autorki związanych z postrzeganiem wykonawstwa historycznego w środowisku krytyków muzycznych. Przedmiotem analizy są recenzje dotyczące występów zespołów Jordiego Savalla oraz Johna Eliota Gardinera zaczerpnięte z czterech czasopism muzycznych, dwóch polskich − „Ruch Muzyczny” oraz „Canor” − i dwóch brytyjskich − „Early Music” oraz „The Musical Times”. Podstawą doboru źródeł była wola skompletowania opinii prezentowanych zarówno w pismach dotyczących stricte muzyki dawnej („Canor”, „Early Music”), jak i takich, w których prezentuje się tematy obejmujące muzykę różnych epok („Ruch Muzyczny”, „The Musical Times”). Dokonując analizy tekstów recenzji autorka stara się zaobserwować różnice postaw recenzentów oraz wskazać czynniki wpływające na takie a nie inne postrzeganie wykonawstwa historycznego.Author’s interest in perception of performance and interpretation of early music among musical critics resulted in the choice of the topic of the presented thesis. The subject of the analysis are musical reviews of Jordi Savall’s and John Eliot Gardiner’s ensembles presented in four journals: Polish "Ruch Muzyczny" and "Canor" and British "Early Music" and "The Musical Times". The choice of aforementioned magazines was related to the aim of collecting opinions presented in both publications focusing only on early music ("Early Music", "Canor") and those devoted to music in general ("Ruch Muzyczny", "The Musical Times"). Within the analysis, the author tries to define the differences in the critics’ attitude and indicate the factors which might have influenced them
