Chosen theories of elites as the attempts of realistic description of socio-political changes

Praca za zasadnicze przyjmuje pojęcie „elityzmu”, jako sposobu postrzegania dynamiki rzeczywistości społeczno-politycznej, bez zakładania pozytywnego wartościowania zjawiska występowania elit w społeczeństwie. Omawia we wstępie pojęcie „teorii” na gruncie nauk społecznych i politycznych oraz inne kluczowe pojęcia, a także odnosi się do wątków prekursorskich oraz inspiratorskich wobec teorii elit w kontekście historii myśli społecznej i politycznej. Odnosi się m.in. do - niespełnionego w warstwie prognostycznej - projektu marksistowskiego. W rozwinięciu przybliża ogólny zarys teorii klasyków – Vilfreda Pareta, Gaetana Moski, Roberta Michelsa, a także – dodatkowo – Charlesa Wrighta Millsa. W zakończeniu omawia skrótowo – niektóre – współczesne kierunki związane z teoriami elit oraz wyprowadza krótkie konkluzje dotyczące omówionych wcześniej koncepcji teoretycznych i ich walorów poznawczych. Wskazuje, iż elityzm jest jednym z wielu współwystępujących w naukach społecznych punktów widzenia (perspektyw), który może uzupełniać się z innymi oraz pomagać lepiej zrozumieć scenę życia publicznego i funkcjonowanie organizacji ludzkich.The paper is based on the elementary concept of „elitism” as the way of perceiving the socio-political dynamics of reality without presuming that the phenomenon of elites within the social environment is inherently good and valuable. The introduction discusses the notion of “theory” on the grounds of social and political studies as well as other key notions. It also presents the precursor and inspiratory threads that relate to the elite theory in the history of social and political thought. It relates among other things to – unfulfilled concept on the prognostic level – the concept of Marxism. The body of the paper approximates the delineation of the Classics’ theory - Vilfredo Pareto, Gaetano Mosca, Robert Michels (*annotation: the original spelling of names localized for Polish in the paper - Vilfreda Pareta, Gaetana Moski, Roberta Michelsa), as well as – additionally – Charles Wright Mills (*Charlsa Wrighta Millsa). In the conclusion, the paper briefly deals with some of the current courses related to elite theories and it introduces short conclusions regarding earlier discussed theoretical concepts and their cognitive aspects. It points to the fact that elitism is one of many viewpoints (perspectives) of socio-political science, which complements other approaches helping in comprehending the public life and the way the human organizations function
