Pierwotne niedobory odporności (PNO) to grupa genetycznie uwarunkowanych schorzeń układu immunologicznego. Osoby nimi dotknięte wykazują predyspozycję do częstych i/lub ciężkich infekcji oraz do współwystępowania innych schorzeń, takich jak: alergie, choroby autoimmunizacyjne, nowotwory. Za rozwój PNO o znanym podłożu genetycznym, w większości przypadków odpowiedzialne są zmiany dotyczące pojedynczych nukleotydów, tzw. mutacje punktowe. Do wykrywania tego typu zmian wykorzystuje się metodę sekwencjonowania genomowego DNA. Niemniej jednak, istnieją przypadki PNO związane z delecjami lub duplikacjami większych fragmentów genomu.
