Polish perception and position on the crisis in Ukraine. Political discourse as a vehicle for strategic culture and foreign policy identity

Confronted by a political crisis then a conflict in its direct neighbourhood, Poland has developed a perception and position that are specific and highly hinge upon its historical experience and culture. Therefore, drawing on concepts as strategic culture and role theory comprised in the broader approach of social constructivism, this dissertation investigates the discourse of three main stakeholders of Polish foreign and security policy on an eleven-months period and analyses the main outcomes in order to assess whether the discourse is congruent with Polish strategic culture and role, and in order to draw conclusions on whether the rather hard stance of Poland on the issue of Ukraine has consequences on cooperation with partners.Confronted by a political crisis then a conflict in its direct neighbourhood, Poland has developed a perception and position that are specific and highly hinge upon its historical experience and culture.
