Individualism and innovative character of Ibn Šuhayd's Treatise of Familiar Spirits and Demons. Analysis of the work in the context of selected maqamas by al-Hamaḏānī

Przedmiotem niniejszej pracy jest analiza głównych pól tematycznych Traktatu o przewodnikach i zwodnikach Ibn Šuhayda al-Andalusīego oraz komparatystyczne zestawienie dzieła z wybranymi makamami al-Hamaḏānīego. Zasadniczą interpretację poprzedza rozdział teoretyczny poświęcony historii klasycznej prozy arabskiej, uzupełniony o szczegółową charakterystykę genologiczną makamy oraz traktatu. W głównej części pracy omówiona została struktura narracyjna dzieła, jego przesłanie krytycznoliterackie, indywidualny wymiar kreacji bohaterów oraz funkcje wykorzystanego w dziele motywu podróży. Analiza analogicznych zagadnień w wybranych makamach al-Hamaḏānīego pozwoliła na wykazanie nowatorstwa dzieła Ibn Šuhayda, który jako pierwszy wykorzystał fikcyjną fabułę do wyrażenia osobistych poglądów na istotę sztuki literackiej.The analysis of main tematical fields of Ibn Šuhayd's Treatise of Familiar Spirits and Demons as well as its comparative juxtaposition with selected al-Hamaḏānī maqamas are the subjects of this work. The main interpretation is preluded by theoretical chapter on history of classical arabic prose, complemented by detailed genological profiles of maqama and treatise. The core part of work contains analysis of narrative structure of Ibn Šuhayd’s work, its critical literary aspect, idividual dimension of protagonists’ creation and the role of the journey’s theme used in the Treatise. Analysis of analogical issues found in selected al-Hamaḏānī’s maqamas allowed to prove innovative character of Ibn Šuhayd who was the first to use ficitonal plot in order to express his personal views on the nature of literary art
