W niniejszej pracy omówiono stan wiedzy na temat zmian stężenia selenu w przebiegu cukrzycy oraz wpływ tego pierwiastka na ryzyko rozwoju choroby. Przeprowadzone dotychczas badania dostarczają wiele informacji, jednak prezentowane wnioski nie są jednoznaczne i wiele zagadnień pozostaje wciąż niewyjaśnionych.
