Nagorno-Karabakh Conflict Reconsidered: Discussing the Prospects of Conflict Management

The current research is substantially different from the existing literature in political and social sciences, and as such, is done for the first time. In recent years there has been a steady rise in the academic literature that discusses the issues concerning the regulation of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. Scholars articulate a wide range of theories in order to study the conflict and offer their perspectives for its resolution. But the mainstream of the academic literature that deals with Nagorno-Karabakh conflict does not go beyond the discussion of the role of ethnicity, nationality, history, realpolitik, and negotiations, not mentioning the biased pro-Armenian or pro-Azerbaijani stances of the authors who sometimes distort the facts in order to justify their claims. Whereas, never before the conflict has been viewed in the context of three main conflict management theories: consociationalism, centripetalism and power-dividing.
