Głównym celem pracy było przedstawienie w jaki sposób jeden z najstarszych mitów został zmieniony przez jednego z największych tragików starożytnej Grecji. W pracy została szczegółowo omówiona sytuacja mitu o Argonautach w źródłach przedeurypidejskich oraz w jaki sposób motyw dzieciobójstwa został przedstawiony w innych mitach. Opisuje również rolę kultu Hery Akraii w historii Medei oraz kwestię przypisywania dramatu antycznemu tragikowi Neofronowi uważanemu za źródło inspiracji Eurypidesa.
