The influence of using transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation and Träbert currents on pain of patients with sciatica.

Rwa kulszowa (ischialgia) jest istotnym problemem zdrowotnym i społecznym, ponieważ dotyczy dużej liczby osób w różnym wieku. Szczególnie ważną kwestią są coraz liczniejsze przypadki zachorowań ludzi w wieku produkcyjnym, co przekłada się na absencję w pracy. Celem pracy było zbadanie wpływu przezskórnej elektrycznej stymulacji nerwów (TENS) oraz prądów Träberta na dolegliwości bólowe i czynności dnia codziennego pacjentów z ischialgią. U wszystkich pacjentów przed rozpoczęciem zabiegów i bezpośrednio po ich zakończeniu dokonano oceny bólu za pomocą skali VAS, oceny jakości życia za pomocą kwestionariusza Oswestry oraz oceny objawu Lasegue’a. Analiza wyników wykazała, że terapia z wykorzystaniem przezskórnej elektrycznej stymulacji nerwów (TENS) i prądu Träberta spowodowała zmniejszenie dolegliwości bólowych oraz poprawę jakości życia pacjentów z rwą kulszową we wszystkich analizowanych aspektach dotyczących: nasilenia bólu, samodzielności, podnoszenia przedmiotów, chodzenia, siedzenia, stania, spania, życia towarzyskiego i podróży. Po zakończeniu terapii u chorych stwierdzono ponadto spadek odsetka dodatnich wyników objawu Lasegue’a o 33%. Podsumowując, zastosowanie serii zabiegów TENS i prądów Träberta u pacjentów z rwą kulszową powoduje zmniejszenie dolegliwości bólowych i znaczącą poprawę jakości ich życia.Sciatica (ischialgia) is a relevant healthy and social question because it concerns a large number of people at different ages. A particularly important issue is the increasing number of cases of disease people in working age resulting in absence in work. The aim of this thesis was to investigate the influence of transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) and Träbert currents on pain and activities of daily life at patients with ischialgia. Before the start of treatments and immediately after the end all patients made an assessment of pain using the VAS scale, an assessment of quality of life using the Oswestry questionnaire and an assessment of Lasegue'a symptom. The analysis of the results showed that therapy by transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation TENS and Träbert current caused reduction of pain and upswing in life of patients with sciatica in all aspects concerning: pain intensity, independence, object lifting, walking, seating, standing, sleeping, social life and travels. Furthermore, after the end of therapy decrease of positive result’s proportion of Lasegue'a symptom of 33% was written at disease people. To sum up, using the series of TENS treatments and Träbert currents at patients with sciatica causes reduction of pain and upswing in their life
