Amerykańska stand-up comedy: refleksja na temat amerykańskich nastrojów społecznych i politycznych

The aim of this study is to present the genesis of American stand-up comedy, its various forms and styles as well as its impact on the American society and its awareness of social and political issues. In chapter one an attempt was made to derive the history of this pop-cultural genre and to show its connections to forms such as theater, film, vaudeville and music hall as well as others. Chapter two concentrates on various stand-up comedians and their careers as well as characteristic features of the jokes and comments presented on stage. The hypothesis of this study is whether or not stand-up comedy can be recognized as a valid means for the transmission of cultural message in regards to social and political criticism of the American reality in the XXth century.
