W pracy poruszono temat twórczości autorek pochodzenia somalijskiego: Igiaby Scego, Kahy Mohamed Aden, Cristiny Ubax Ali Farah i Shirin Ramzanali Fazel, które wychowały się we Włoszech lub emigrowały do Włoch z powodu wojny domowej w Somalii. Ich twórczość, w języku włoskim, należy do nurtu włoskiej literatury postkolonialnej. Opisują nie tylko własne doświadczenia, ale również pośrednio historię całej diaspory somalijskiej. W rozdziale pierwszym pracy zanalizowano język, miejsce i czas. Rozdział drugi poświęcony jest kwestii tożsamości, która jest tematem przewodnim pracy.
