In this thesis I present one of the main problems concerning contemporary great city – the disappearance of diverse discourse in urban public space.The great cities are a kind of lens reflecting the condition of society, culture, politics and economy of the world. In postmodern times, the habitants of great cities became the consumer-citizens concentrated on satisfying their wishes that are being artificially made by marketing specialists. They became passive bystanders insensitive to others, uncommitted to the life of the city.In XX century public space step by step started to be (with passive agreement of the city habitants) appropriated by private investors, who began changing it to quazi-public or even private spaces of consumerism.The ...
