THE QUALITY OF LIFE OF ADULTS FROM CHILDREN’S HOME

The theoretical part includes questions concerning the function of the children’s home as an institution as well as the presentation of the child's home teacher and psychological portrait of pupils themselves. It also discusses issues of quality of life and the factors having a significant part in its shaping. The attention has been drawn to the feeling of happiness as its element.The methodological part includes methodological approach to the research in which the method of individual cases has been employed. There were three people involved in the study aged 35, 55 and 68 years. Studies have shown that the sense of quality of life of the former children’s home pupils depends primarily on their current life experiences. Each of the subjects despite the difficult and sad past feels the joy and satisfaction with current life what indicates that staying at children’s home does not always mean life’s defeat.W części teoretycznej zawarto kwestie dotyczące funkcjonowania domu dziecka jako instytucji, przybliżona została postać wychowawcy domu dziecka oraz „portret psychologiczny” samych wychowanków. Ponadto omówiono zagadnienia jakości życia oraz czynników mających znaczący udział w jej kształtowaniu. Zwrócono także uwagę na poczucie szczęścia, jako jej elementu. W części metodologicznej zawarto metodologiczną koncepcję badań, w których zastosowano metodę indywidualnych przypadków. W badaniu wzięły udział trzy osoby, w wieku 35, 55 i 68 lat. Badania wykazały, że poczucie jakości życia byłych wychowanków domu dziecka zależy przede wszystkim od ich aktualnych doświadczeń życiowych. Każda z badanych osób mimo trudnej i smutnej przeszłości odczuwa radość i zadowolenie z obecnego życia na miarę przeżywanych życiowych problemów, co świadczy o tym, że pobyt w domu dziecka nie zawsze oznaczać musi poniesienie życiowej porażki
