Anglicisms in the contemporary German language. Statistical Analysis

Anglizismen in der deutschen Gegenwartssprache Statistische AnalyseAngicisms in the contemporary German language Statistical Analysis Summary The subject of this master’s thesis are the anglicisms in the contemporary German language. Author’s aim was to prove, that English loan-words don’t threat to German. As long as a language is able to subject foreign words to its own rules like a native word, it is not in danger. On the contrary – it is a sign that it is a living and developing language and anglicisms are enriching the German vocabulary. The first part of this research is more theoretical and includes general terminology around anglicisms. In a short history review of German language were described influences of foreign languages on a German, especially of Englisch. From the linguistic areas particulary dependent on using of anglicisms were presented fashion, advertisement and the press. At the end of the theoretical reflections have been described activities of the language purists and their battle with foreign words as well opinions different Author’s about using of anglicisms in German.The second part of the master’s thesis is more practical. It includes an statistical analisysis to test how many anglicisms are to find in a different kinds of texts
