Topology of the phylogenetic tree of mammals has changed in many important respects over the past years. Development of science and technology has allowed the use of new, efficient research techniques of molecular biology. This allowed the researchers to use data that were not available so far, which gave a new direction of research phylogeny of mammals. This paper describes the main advantages of molecular techniques and their primary division. It presents the techniques, which influenced the image of modern systematics of mammals. Also compared the classical topology of trees based on morphological characteristics with trees based on molecular markers.
