Theater therapy. From actor therapy to spectator therapy. Types and targets of theater therapy.

This thesis describes the phenomenon of theater therapy, which I have presented as a method of combining theater and psychology. I have divided the theater therapy into actors’ therapy and spectators’ therapy. This is not a widely applied division but a division created by me in order to distinguish the influences of the theater therapy. The first chapter concerns the phenomenon of catharsis. This concept was presented in the traditional Aristotelian terms, and in the sense that Jacob Moreno, the creator of psychodrama, gave to this idea. It was important for me to introduce the meaning of the term catharsis in the sense that occurs in psychology. Second chapter describes the phenomenon of the theater therapy. In this section I focused on the origin of therapeutic theater, the idea of the theater therapy, its types, such as psychodrama, drama, forum theater, playback theater, therapy through theater arts, and the goals of the theater therapy. In the third chapter, which concerns the theater therapy as an place of actors therapy, I have presented the activities of the Psyche Theatre from Cracow which has been dealing with this form of therapy for more than 20 years and is one of the few examples of the theater, where play mentally disabled people. The fourth chapter is devoted to the Stop-Klatka Association, which in its activity uses the forum theater method – an example of the spectators’ therapy. The fifth chapter concerns the importance of a role in the therapeutic theater. This section presents inter alia the Role Theory of Jacob Moreno.W niniejszej pracy przedstawiłam teatroterapię jako metodę łączącą teatr z psychologią. Teatr terapeutyczny czerpie z psychologii, jego źródła tkwią w niej, z drugiej strony ze względu na specyficzną grupę aktorów, składającą się z osób niepełnoprawnych, wykluczonych, teatr ten nie może istnieć bez psychologa lub osoby z przygotowaniem psychoterapeutycznym w swoim składzie.W pracy tej dokonałam podziału terapii za pomocą teatru, na terapię aktorów oraz terapię widzów. Nie jest to powszechnie stosowany podział, lecz stworzony przeze mnie w celu rozróżnienia oddziaływań teatroterapii. Pierwszy rozdział dotyczy zjawiska katharsis. Pojęcie to przedstawione zostało w tradycyjnym ujęciu Arystotelesowskim oraz w znaczeniu jakie nadal mu Jacob Moreno – twórca psychodramy. Ważne było dla mnie wprowadzenie znaczenia terminu katharsis jakie pojawia się w psychologii. Drugi rozdział pracy prezentuje zjawisko teatroterapii. W rozdziale tym skupiłam się na genezie teatru terapeutycznego, pojęciu teatroterapii, jej formach, takich jak psychodrama, drama, teatr forum, teatr playbacku, terapia poprzez sztuki teatralne, a także na celach teatroterapii. W rozdziale trzecim, który dotyczy teatroterapii jako miejsca terapii aktora, przedstawiłam działalność Teatru Psyche z Krakowa, który tą formą terapii zajmuje się ponad 20 lat i stanowi jeden z niewielu przykładów teatru, w którym grają osoby zaburzone psychicznie. Czwarty rozdział poświęcony został Stowarzyszeniu Stop-Klatka, który w swojej działalności wykorzystuje metodę teatru forum, będącą przykładem terapii widzów.
