The Character of Kserkses Seen By Herodotus.

This script shows how Herodotus saw the king of Persia, Xerxes. On the image of the king, greatly influenced the overall author's concept that led him to write “Histories”. In my thesis I want to present the author's idea, an image of oriental rulers presented in the book, and the image of the king seen by Herodotus. Considering events shown by the author and the image ofEastern rulers, this work reveals how these concepts influenced the image of Xerxes.Praca ta przedstawia w jaki sposób Herodot postrzegał postać królaperskiego, Kserksesa. Na obraz króla w znacznym stopniu wpłynął ogólnykoncept autora, jaki przyświecał mu pisząc Dzieje. W pracy zostałaprzedstawiona zarówno idea autora, wizerunek władców orientalnychprzedstawiany w Dziejach, jak i obraz króla widziany przez Herodota. Biorąc pod uwagę sposób ujęcia wydarzeń przez autora oraz wizerunekwładców wschodnich praca ukazuje w jakim stopniu owe koncepcjewpłynęły na obraz Kserksesa
