Church-State relations in Italy (1870 - 1939) and Spain (1931 - 1975)

This thesis addresses two important issues. The first is the relationship between the Catholic Church and the Italian state in the years 1871 to 1939. This is the period from the unification of Italy to the fall of fascism. In the meantime occurred the utmost importance to the Catholic world namely, the Vatican City was restored as a sovereign entity in international relations. The second issue concerns the same issue at first, but refers to Spain, years 1931 to 1975. Years 1931 - 1939 were the time of the Second Republic, government anti-Church where the first violin playing the socialists, communists and anarchists. The years 1939 - 1975 enrolled in the history of Spain as exercised dictatorial rule under General Francisco Franco in contrast to the Second Republic of very favorable to the Church. The study sought to reveal tensions and conflicts in the relationship between the parties to the dispute over the shape of society, culture and family. Do not omit the discussion of important international documents as concordats or international agreements. Also signaled changes that have occurred in the Catholic Church after The Second Vatican Council involving the evolution of the position of the church to the problems of political and social nature.Niniejsza praca magisterska porusza dwa ważne zagadnienia. Pierwsze to stosunki między Kościołem katolickim a państwem Włoskim w latach 1871 – 1939. Jest to okres od zjednoczenia Włoch do upadku faszyzmu. W między czasie wydarzyła się rzecz niezwykle ważna dla świata katolickiego a mianowicie zostało przywrócone Państwo Watykańskie jako suwerenny podmiot stosunków międzynarodowych. Drugie zagadnienie dotyczy tej samej kwestii co pierwsze, lecz odnosi się do Hiszpanii lat 1931 – 1975. Lata 1931 – 1939 stanowią czas II Republiki, rządów antykościelnych gdzie pierwsze skrzypce grali socjaliści, komuniści i anarchiści. Z kolei lata 1939 – 1975 zapisał się na kartach historii Hiszpanii jako rządy dyktatorskie sprawowane przez generała Francisco Franco w przeciwieństwie do okresu II Republiki bardzo sprzyjające kościołowi. W pracy starano się pokazać napięcia i konflikty w relacjach między stronami sporu o kształt społeczeństwa, kultury, rodziny. Nie pominięto także omówienia ważnych dokumentów międzynarodowych jak konkordaty czy umowy międzynarodowe. Zasygnalizowano również zmiany jakie zaszły w samym Kościele katolickim po II Soborze Watykańskim wiążące się z ewolucją stanowiska Kościoła wobec problemów natury politycznej i społecznej
