State and Evangelical-Augsburg Church in years 1945-1956

Subject of the following study is the situation of the Evangelical-Augsburg Church in Poland since 1945, i.e., after the end of World War II until 1956, in other words to the “Polish thaw” or “Polish October”. This study reveals the problems with which the Church had to struggle immediately after the war, where the ecclesiastical authorities were depleted significantly as a result of war crimes. Study shows the consequences of anti-German policy Church had to bear, because Protestantism was associated with Germaneness. The study contains six chapters. The first one shows the situation of the Evangelical-Augsburg Church just after the liberation, the second discusses the legal basis for the functioning of the Church in the PRL and the formation of its government and the associated with it personal games. The third chapter describes the formation of ecclesiastical structures in the parish and diocesan level and activity of the Church on the scene in pursuit of education and charitable activities. Also addressed here is the question of relations between the Evangelical-Augsburg Church and other Churches, especially the Evangelical Reformed Church. Further chapters bring up the issue of Church activity in the Recovered Territories. A separate chapter is devoted to the description of relations between the state and the Evangelical-Augsburg Church and State Security Service's actions taken against it. The last chapter deals with the political changes that occurred in 1956 in Poland and their consequences for the Evangelical-Augsburg Church.Tematem niniejszej pracy jest sytuacja Kościoła Ewangelicko-Augsburskiego w Polsce od 1945 r. tj; od zakończenia II wojny światowej do 1956 r. czyli do tak zwanej „polskiej odwilży”. Ukazane są w niej problemy z jakimi Kościół musiał borykać się zaraz po zakończeniu wojny, gdzie władze kościelne były bardzo uszczuplone na skutek zbrodni wojennych; musiał ponosić konsekwencje polityki antyniemieckiej, gdyż protestantyzm kojarzył się z niemieckością. Praca zawiera sześć rozdziałów. Pierwszy z nich przedstawia sytuację Kościoła Ewangelicko- Augsburskiego tuż po wyzwoleniu, drugi omawia podstawy prawne funkcjonowania Kościoła w PRL i kształtowanie się jego władz oraz towarzyszące temu rozgrywki personalne. Rozdział trzeci opisuje tworzenie się struktur kościelnych na poziomie parafii i diecezji oraz działalność Kościoła na niwie oświaty, edukacji i działalności charytatywnej. Poruszana jest tutaj również kwestia stosunków między Kościołem Ewangelicko-Augsburskim a innymi Kościołami, w szczególności Kościołem Ewangelicko-Reformowanym. W dalszych rozdziałach poruszono zagadnienie działalności Kościoła na Ziemiach Odzyskanych. Osobny rozdział został poświęcony opisowi stosunków między państwem a Kościołem Ewangelicko-Augsburskim i poczynaniom Służby Bezpieczeństwa wobec niego. Ostatni rozdział dotyczy zmian politycznych, jakie nastąpiły w 1956 roku i ich konsekwencji dla Kościoła Ewangelicko-Augsburskiego
