The aim of this paper is to present the solution of the sorites paradox as proposed by epistmicism (Williamson, 1994, 1997). The outline of the methodological debate on the notion and the adequate theory of vagueness will serve an auxiliary function. In the course of the paper I analyze (1) the epistemic thesis of the existence of sharp cut-off points for the extensions of vague predicates, (2) the unintuitiveness objection and (3) Williamson’s reply. This discussion aims at showing that the theory of vagueness should include the epistemic aspect.
