The recipe for a photo icon. How are the photo icons shaped and what influences them?

The research problem, elaborated in the following thesis, comprises the phenomenon of a photo icon. We live in the pictorial age, the époque of image. How is changing the consciousness of images around us? How do we perceive pictures?Why some pictures are recognizable worldwide symbols of historical events and the other go forever into oblivion, despite the fact, that they were technically correct and moving? Is it possible to create a photo icon on request, or it has to be always a matter of chance? What is the impact of media on the formation of photo icons? As a matter of research I would like to focus on the best known and remembered photos and find out what made them become commonplace in our consciousness? Why, when we think of "the cruelty of war in Vietnam," we picture the photo "Napalm girl" taken by Nick Ut. What factors made, that this picture resides in the minds of many people from different cultures? Each chapters, refer to the main question: How to turn a photo into a photo icon?Przedmiotem pracy magisterskiej jest próba odkrycia mechanizmów jakie powodują, że dana fotografia staje się ikoną. Gdzie tkwi sekret doskonałego zdjęcia? Dlaczego jedne zdjęcia stają się rozpoznawalnymi na całym świecie symbolami pewnych wydarzeń a inne na zawsze odchodzą w zapomnienie, mimo tego, iż były poprawne technicznie i poruszające? Czy jest możliwe wykonanie ikony fotograficznej na zamówienie, czy zawsze musi być to kwestia przypadku? W moim założeniu ikona fotograficzna to zdjęcie, które na stałe przeniknęło się w świadomość społeczną. Fotografie - ikony muszą oddziaływać na tyle intensywnie, aby wielu mogło je w podobny sposób zinterpretować, nie kwestionować ich realizmu i doskonałości wykonania. Jest wiele pytań na które chciałabym odpowiedzieć w mojej pracy. Jednak za przedmiot badań pragnę obrać tylko te najbardziej znane i pamiętane zdjęcia oraz zastanowić się, co sprawiło, że na stałe zagościły w naszej świadomości? Ponadto, będę starała się uwodnić, że nie wystarczy znaleźć się w odpowiednim miejscu i czasie, by wykonać fotografię, która poruszy serca milionów
