The purpose of this work was showing, on the basis of literature data, of problem of the toxicity of the lead for mammals, with special taking into account the man. The discussed most essential effects of interacting of this metal with living organism, both adult and young. The particular attention was devoted to mechanisms of the toxic action and of the relation of the accumulation of the lead in tissues and organs from the given dose. The direct threat for life forms, including human, there is air polluted with the lead. A contact with toxic dust and a food contaminated with this metal are alternative sources of exposures.
