Niniejsza praca ukazuje cechy powieści postmodernistycznej w późnej prozie Italo Calvino z lat 1960-1980. Przedmiotem analizy są trzy ostatnie powieści włoskiego pisarza: Niewidzialne miasta, Jeśli zimową nocą podróżny, Palomar, najbardziej reprezentatywne dla tego okresu twórczości. Praca podzielona jest na dwie główne części. Pierwsza jest poświęcona wyznacznikom formalnym prozy Calvina, takim jak: budowa utworów, specyfika prowadzenia narracji, fokalizacja, zwielokrotnienie płaszczyzn czasowo-przestrzennych oraz gry intertekstualne, od parodii gatunków, poprzez aluzję literacką, do cytatów z innych utworów. W drugiej części przedmiotem analizy jest tematyka omawianych powieści, która odzwierciedla postmodernistyczne wizje świata i człowi...
