Nk.pl versus Facebook. Popularity of social networking websites among grammar school teenagers.

The thesis describes the evolution of social networking websites, their main goals as well as their division on the basis of target group and content in the context of the origins and the development of Internet both globally and in Poland. The analysis includes the most popular social networking websites such as MySpace, Facebook and Twitter. Additionally, sample Polish thematic social networking websites, which gained popularity due to their particular theme, are also described. The main part of the research thesis is a survey carried out among grammar school teenagers, with an aim of verifying the hypothesis that Nk.pl is losing popularity in favour of Facebook.Praca zawiera genezę oraz rozwój Internetu na świecie oraz w Polsce. Przedstawia opis ewolucji portali społecznościowych, ich główne cele oraz podział ze względu na grupę docelową i treść. W pracy zostały scharakteryzowane kultowe portale społecznościowe: MySpace, Facebook oraz Twitter. Ponadto, przedstawione w niej zostały przykłady polskich portali społecznościowych, które ze względu na swą tematykę, zyskały popularność. Istotę części badawczej pracy stanowią badania ankietowe, przeprowadzone wśród młodzieży gimnazjalnej, których celem jest weryfikacja hipotezy badawczej, zakładającej spadek popularności Nk.pl na rzecz Facebooka
