The impact of attractiveness on self-assessment depending on the locus of control.

This paper is an attempt to analyze the phenomenon of self-perception in the context of their own attractiveness. The author tries to prove that the perception itself is dependent on a sense of locus of control. Work consists of two parts - theoretical and practical. The first part is focused on issues of attractiveness of the wide subject in the context of the phenomenon of beauty, on the characteristics of the phenomenon of self-assessment and self-esteem, and presentation of various aspects of the theory of sense of locus of control. The second part is focused on the social stereotypes and their impact on mutual perceptions of people, as well as the problem of the role and place of the body in the contemporary social environment. The final part of this paper will be a presentation of research results.The research showed that the level of locus of control is more external on models, in contrast to women in the sample labeled as "average". The results confirm the established idea that a person considered physically attractive pay more attention to find appealing in the environment which contribute to increase their self-assessment. Physical attractive people were also more confident, with higher levels of self-defense strengthening (dependent on the level of locus of control), with a greater sense of popularity. In terms of moral self-acceptance showed no differences between the models and other women. Just like in terms of assessing the level of being loved or the level of integration of identity, leadership skills and competencies. The general conclusion from research is that attractiveness affects self-assessment in the context of the level of locus of control.Niniejsza praca stanowi próbę analizy zjawiska samooceny w kontekście odczuwania własnej atrakcyjności. Autor stara się dowieść, że sposób postrzegania siebie uzależniony jest od poczucia umiejscowienia kontroli. Praca złożona jest z dwóch części – teoretycznej i praktycznej. Pierwsza koncentruje się na przedstawieniu zagadnień z zakresu szeroko pojętej tematyki atrakcyjności w kontekście zjawiska piękna; na charakterystyce zjawiska samooceny i poczucia własnej wartości; oraz przedstawieniu różnych aspektów teoretycznych dotyczących poczucia umiejscowienia kontroli. W dalszej części przedstawione zostaną zagadnienia społecznych stereotypów i ich oddziaływanie na wzajemny sposób postrzegania się ludzi, a także problem roli i miejsca ciała we współczesnym otoczeniu społecznym. Finalną częścią opracowania stanowić będzie prezentacja wyników badań własnych. Badania własne wykazały, że poziom umiejscowienia kontroli u modelek jest częściej zewnętrzny w odróżnieniu do kobiet oznaczonych w próbie jako „przeciętne”. Wyniki potwierdzają założoną tezę, że osoby uważane za atrakcyjne fizycznie przykładają się bardziej do tego, aby spodobać się otoczeniu, co wpływa jednocześnie na zwiększenie ich samooceny. Osoby atrakcyjne fizyczne okazały się także bardziej pewne siebie, z wyższym poziomem obronnego wzmacniania samooceny (uzależnionym od poziomu umiejscowienia kontroli), z poczuciem większej popularności. Pod względem samoakceptacji moralnej nie wykazano różnic między modelkami i pozostałymi kobietami. Podobnie jak pod względem oceny poziomu bycia kochaną czy też poziomu integracji tożsamości, zdolności przywódczych i kompetencji. Ogólną konkluzją z badań jest stwierdzenie, że atrakcyjność wpływa na samoocenę w kontekście poziomu umiejscowienia kontroli
