The scope of nursing profession by the Congregation of the Sisters of Marci in Poland.

Nursing is a profession, which aim is to carry professional help for a person, with concern about her/his health status, to ensure care in sickness, and also promotion of health and its maintenance. It is also a vocation, as it recognizes person as a whole and contributes to its spiritual growth. The most important is the person not the actual illness. The nurse has a significant role in the process of looking after and nursing a sick person, as her duty is to assist the person and support that person by providing information and education.Sisters of Mercy by working in the nursing profession, fulfill their vocation by serving other person carrying aid to all in need. Their vocation is a result of the character of their religious life, whose aim is to serve the poor and the sick, which allows them to fully engage in the nursing profession. The aim of this thesis was to demonstrate the scope of nursing profession by the Congregation of the Sisters of Merci in Poland, in the chosen communities in which they serve: Houses of social assistance, hospitals, hospices. Also Sisters serve in Children’s homes, nursery schools, visit the poor in their homes and go to missions ad gentes.Pielęgniarstwo jest zawodem, którego celem jest profesjonalne niesienie pomocy człowiekowi, troska o jego stan zdrowia, zapewnienie opieki w stanie choroby, a także promowanie zdrowia i jego podtrzymywanie. Jest także powołaniem, ponieważ postrzega człowieka całościowo przyczyniając się do jego rozwoju duchowego. Najważniejszy jest człowiek, a nie sama choroba. Istotną rolę w procesie sprawowania opieki i pielęgnowania chorego spełnia pielęgniarka, gdyż jej zadaniem jest towarzyszenie człowiekowi, wspieranie go, informowanie i edukacja. Siostry Miłosierdzia pracując w zawodzie pielęgniarki realizują swoje powołanie w służbie drugiemu człowiekowi niosąc pomoc wszystkim potrzebującym. Jest to ich powołanie, jakie wynika z charakteru ich życia zakonnego, którego celem jest służba ubogim i chorym, co pozwala w pełni zaangażować się w zawodzie pielęgniarki.Celem pracy było ukazanie sprawowania opieki pielęgniarskiej przez Zgromadzenie Sióstr Miłosierdzia w Polce w wybranych placówkach, w których posługują: Domy Pomocy Społecznej, szpitale, hospicja. Ponadto Siostry służą także w domach dziecka, przedszkolach oraz odwiedzają ubogich w ich domach i wyjeżdżają na misje ad gentes
