The incidence of fungal infections in critically ill patients is growing in last decades. An Intensive Care Unit is a hospital department the most exposed to nosocomial infections, that are the reason of complications and health hazard. It’s mainly associated with greater use of broad spectrum antibiotics, immunosupression therapy and invasive monitoring, nutrition which facilitate deep penetration of fungi. The Candida is the main pathogen causing nosocomial fungal infections among patients hospitalized in ICU, especially C. albicans.
