Economic activity of women in the European Union

The set up of the European Union has coused many changes, which in a large extent have been connected with the job market and effectiveness of women’s career. The new image of the labour market guaranteeing four essential liberties, especially freedom of the migration of persons, creates new opportunities which can be used by both men, and women. In the thesis issues depicting the position of women in that market were presented. Legal grounds adjusting the European labour market and its overall description were discussed. Moreover the thesis present factors affecting the economic activity of women and regulations conditioning their position. Analysis of the employment structure, the unemployment and the remuneration of women in the labour market in the European Union based on statistical data was also described.Utworzenie Unii Europejskiej spowodowało liczne zmiany, które w dużym stopniu dotyczyły rynku pracy oraz aktywności zawodowej kobiet. Powstały w jej wyniku nowy wizerunek rynku pracy gwarantujący cztery swobody podstawowe, w tym swobodę przemieszczania się osób stwarza nowe możliwości, które mogą zostać wykorzystane zarówno przez mężczyzn, jak i przez kobiety. W pracy przedstawiona została problematyka obrazująca pozycję kobiety na owym rynku. Zaprezentowano podstawy prawne regulujące europejski rynek pracy oraz jego ogólną charakterystykę. Ponadto praca prezentuje czynniki wpływające na aktywność ekonomiczną kobiet oraz regulacje prawne warunkujące ich pozycję. Omówiona została analiza struktury zatrudnienia, bezrobocia oraz wynagrodzeń kobiet na rynku pracy w Unii Europejskiej oparta na danych statystycznych
