The aim of this research is the attempt to show the role of sport in the process of building Canadian national identity and what place it takes in the social consciousness, how much is a social phenomenon and what a huge role it places in the very elaborate Canadian society. The first chapter analyses Canadian national identity, its fundamental elements, factors, that have been influencing its creation and also those, that have been making its development difficult and also points what is the influence of sport on the society in general.
