Porous anodic aluminum oxide (AAO) membranes with a modulated pore diameter were obtained by pulse anodization of Al carried out in a 0.3 M sulphuric acid solution at 1 ºC. Four different variants of the applied potential pulses were investigated. In order to investigate the response of the sample to the applied pulses, current vs. time curves were recorded during the second anodizing step. As-prepared membranes were used as templates for the fabrication of Ag nanowires with modulated pore diameters. The morphology of both nanoporous membranes and Ag nanowires was investigated with a Scanning Electron Microscope.
