Trust in online relationships. A study of the members of the CouchSurfing social network.

The purpose of the study was to describe the nature of trust and its specific characteristics in the online relationships. It addressed the issues of trust, internet social networks and the process of trust development in online relationships.Analyzed were the responses given by the users of the CouchSurfing.com website, to a questionnaire concerning profile pages of three users, which varied in the quality and quantity of the provided information.The results of the analysis showed that all of the singled out categories (liking, similarity, reputation and self-description) influenced the credibility of the person with whom an online relationship was established and consequently affected the building of trust.Celem pracy jest omówienie relacji zaufania oraz próba określenia specyfiki tworzenia się tej relacji w internecie. Kolejno opisane zostały: problematyka zaufania, problematyka internetowych społeczności oraz podjęta próba zbadania determinantów powstawania zaufania w relacjach internetowych. Analizie poddano wypełnione przez użytkowników serwisu internetowego Couchsurfing kwestionariusze zawierające pytania dotyczące stron profilowych trzech użytkowniczek tego serwisu, zróżnicowanych pod względem ilości oraz rodzaju podanych tam informacji. Celem analizy było określenie wpływu wybranych czynników zewnętrznych na spostrzeganą wiarygodność partnera interakcji oraz ocenę ryzyka płynącego z dalszego angażowania się w relację, a także próbę określenia związku między czynnikami zewnętrznymi, a rodzajem wzbudzonego zaufania (emocjonalnym lub poznawczym). Spośród wyróżnionych kategorii (lubienie, spostrzegane podobieństwo, reputacja oraz informacje samoopisowe), wszystkie okazały się mieć wpływ na wiarygodność osoby poznawanej w internecie, a w konsekwencji na obdarzenie jej zaufaniem
