Event History Analysis and its applications in social sciences

The aim of this paper is to present a very interesting group of data analysis methods called Event History Analysis which are not fully utilized due to their potential applications in social sciences.These methods are used to analyze the time of events occurrences.The nature of present work is the monograph.On the one hand it presents the theoretical and methodological assumptions of selected group of data analysis methods.On the other hand a very important element of this work is to present a wide spectrum of possible applications of this group of methods in sociology, as well as wider social sciences.For the purpose of fixing event history analysis in sociology will be presented the theory of social role, the Life Cycle paradigm and the perspective of the social change analysis.This work is the result of constant research of the author for new analytical solutions that allow to better describe and understand the social processes and it responds to the little use of event history analysis on the ground of the social sciences.Celem niniejszej pracy jest przedstawienie ciekawej i posiadającej w pełni niewykorzystany potencjał aplikacyjny grupy metod analizy danych – analizy historii zdarzeń (ang. Event History Analysis). Metody te służą do analizy czasów wystąpień zdarzeń.Praca niniejsza przyjmuje charakter monografii. Z jednej strony prezentuje ona teoretyczne i metodologiczne założenia wybranej grupy metod analizy danych.Z drugiej strony jej bardzo ważnym elementem jest prezentacja szerokiego spectrum możliwości aplikacji omawianej grupy metod na gruncie socjologii, a także szeroko rozumianych nauk społecznych.Dla celów umocowania analizy historii zdarzeń na gruncie socjologii zaprezentowane zostaną teoria Roli Społecznej, paradygmat Cyklu Życia (ang. Life Course) oraz perspektywa analizy zmiany społecznej.Praca stanowi po części odpowiedź na dotychczas marginalizowane wykorzystanie metod analizy historii zdarzeń na gruncie nauk społecznych. Po części jest wynikiem nieustannych poszukiwań autorki nowych rozwiązań analitycznych, które pozwalają na lepsze opisanie i rozumienie procesów społecznych
