The paper presents issues related to the transport of newborns with low birth weight. In the first chapter the problem of transport the child “in utero” which means before birth is discussed. It is necessary in situations where birth should take place at the center of a higher reference level.Then, the rules of transporting neonates between delivery room and neonatal ward and between the neonatal units are presented.At the time of hospitalization of infants with low birth weight there are situations when a newborn has to be transported to another facility for specialist consultation.This issue has been discussed in a separate chapter.Particular situation is also transport of the child home after hospital treatment is completed.
