mental disorders observed in the perinatal period

The following thesis presents the problems connected with mental disorders observed in the perinatal period. It analyses the etiology of the disorders taking into consideration the biological, mental and social factors. It characterizes different types of postpartum emotional changes: baby blues, depression, psychosis, and briefly describes the methods of treatment. The thesis also discusses the main prophylactic measures which need to be take in order to prevent the development of the disorders in the perinatal period: thorough sexual education of the society, education in antenatal classes, offering special care to the women from risk groups, proper medical attention for the pregnant women, creating adequate social policy of the state for the pregnant women and after the birth of the child, system of social support for the women. It also presents the changes in the approach to the mere process of the birth – the phenomena of the humanization of the childbirth, the tasks of the medical personnel in order to prevent threats, the need of constantly improving professional qualifications.The thesis also characterizes the role of the non-governmental organizations, their participation in raising social awareness concerning motherhood and potential problems, also mental, which may be related with it.W niniejszej pracy przedstawiono problematykę związaną z zaburzeniami psychicznymi występującymi w okresie okołoporodowym. Opisano etiologię zaburzeń z uwzględnieniem czynników biologicznych, psychicznych i społecznych. Scharakteryzowano rodzaje poporodowych zmian emocjonalnych: przygnębienie poporodowe (baby blues), depresja, psychoza, krótko scharakteryzowano sposoby leczenia. Przedstawiono również główne działania profilaktyczne jakie należy podejmować w celu przeciwdziałania powstawaniu zaburzeń w okresie okołoporodowym: gruntowna edukacja seksualna społeczeństwa, edukacja w szkołach rodzenia, objęcie szczególną opieką kobiet z grup ryzyka, prawidłowa opieka medyczna nad kobietą w ciąży, kreowanie właściwej polityki społecznej państwa wobec kobiety w ciąży i po porodzie, system wsparcia społecznego dla kobiet. Przedstawiono również zmiany w podejściu do samego przebiegu porodu- zjawisko humanizacji porodu, zadania personelu medycznego w celu zapobiegania zagrożeniom, konieczność ciągłego podnoszenia kwalifikacji zawodowych. Scharakteryzowano również rolę organizacji pozarządowych, ich udział w zwiększeniu świadomości społecznej dotyczącej tematyki macierzyństwa i ewentualnych problemów, również psychicznych, jakie mogą się z tym łączyć
