Emotional problems relating to perinatal period

Emotional problems relating to perinatal period are remarkably frequent. It has been estimated that over 80% of women experience mood swings of various magnitude. The hereby paper describes the methodology regarding emotional disorders occurring in the pregnancy and post-natal period. Furthermore, it describes the etiology of the disorders, which includes biological, psychological and social factors, as well as characterizes various types of perinatal psychological disorders. The paper addresses major methods of ailment prevention such as risk factor recognition or disorder prophylaxis. Described are the tasks of medical personnel in the pre-hospital procedures, women education, means of social support, and methods to be undertaken in order to relieve the psychological state of a patient.Problemy emocjonalne związane z okresem okołoporodowym są niezwykle częste. Szacuje się, że ponad 80% kobiet doświadcza wahań nastroju o różnym nasileniu. Poniższa praca przedstawia problematykę związaną z zaburzeniami emocjonalnymi występującymi w okresie ciąży i w okresie poporodowym. Opisano etiologię zaburzeń z uwzględnieniem czynników biologicznych, psychicznych i społecznych, oraz scharakteryzowano rodzaje okołoporodowych zaburzeń psychicznych. Uwzględniono główne elementy prewencji schorzeń: rozpoznawania czynników ryzyka, profilaktykę zaburzeń. Przedstawiono zadania personelu medycznego w postępowaniu przedlekarskim, edukację kobiet, wsparcie społeczne, metody działania w celu poprawy stanu psychicznego pacjentki
