Lamys Hachem describes the result of work from Cuiry-16s-Chaudardes in the Aisne valley, France. The people who settled in central and western Europe at the beginning of the Neolithic were farmers living in villages composed of longhouses. These structures were made of wood and daub, but all that remains today are post-holes, wall foundation trenches, refuse pits alongside the walls and other pits further away from the houses.
