The design of nickel based superalloy disks in an industrial setting is a stringent process which must produce critical components of the aircraft engine. Improving these components is no small feat given the extreme mechanical and thermalconstraints endured by these types of parts. One of the most important aspects of the design is the microstructure of the unerlying material. As such, the engineers who design these machines have a specific need for models capable of predicting microstructural evolution in metallic materials during the forging process.
