The image shows the seismological station SJAF of Saint-Jean-de-l'Albère (Pyrénées Orientales). The seismological sensor (Streckeisen STS-2) is installed in a niche dug in the rock. The door visible on the picture allows to isolate the sensor from the thermal variations on this south-facing site. The station is powered by the mains and the solar panels are installed as back-up. The site has been operational since February 2007, is operated by the OMP (Observatoire Midi-Pyrénées) and is integrated into the Permanent Broadband Network (RLBP) of Résif, a research infrastructure dedicated to the observation and understanding of the structure and dynamics of the Earth's interior.
