Introduction: Anatomical landmarks used to determine intervertebral space for lumbar puncture are false in 30% of the cases. Ultrasound guidance is a suitable tool for learning and routine practice. We evaluated the difference between classical anatomical landmarks (CAL) and ultrasound location puncture (ULP). Methods: This observational monocentric prospective study was settled in the Emergency Department of the Universitary hospital of Grenoble. The main judgement criteria was the mean distance in millimeters between the punction site choosen by CAL and by ULP method.
