Transformation digitale de l'industrie pharmaceutique : état des lieux, opportunités et challenges

We are today stepping into the e-health era: The digital has been increasingly adopted in the pharmaceutical industry. Between the dematerialization of transactions that has taken place for more than 15 years and the "uberisation" which disrupts a whole range of service activities, there are digital opportunities for the industry that enable the most committed and relevant companies to achieve decisive competitive advantages. This may challenge the established order in the coming years. When its comes to the Pharmaceutical industry, concerned by this postulate, the digitalisation is not yet achieved. The overall ongoing digital transformation process is far less advanced for the pharmaceutical industry when compared to many other industries. To face and overpass several current issues, the pharmaceutical industry must regain a new dynamic through the new opportunities offered by the digital channel. This thesis will set a picture of the digital transformation within the pharmaceutical industry, and analyse its opportunities and challenges. This work is based on the one hand on the study of existing studies and reports, and on the other hand, on the analysis of these studies and reports challenged with results coming from qualitative survey specifically conducted for this thesis. This work will be focusing on the primarily on the mainstream pharmaceutical industry, namely global and of large and medium size, but the influences of the Big Techs, GAFA, start-ups, medical technologies (medical device) as well as contribution of Big data, will also fuel our reasoning.Nous entrons dans l’aire de la e-santé : le digital est de plus en plus présente au sein de l’industrie pharmaceutique. De manière générale, entre la dématérialisation des transactions intervenue depuis plus de 15 ans et l’ « uberisation » qui bouleverse des pans entiers des activités de services, il y a pour l’industrie des opportunités d’initiatives digitales plus ou moins structurantes qui permettent, et vont permettre aux entreprises les plus engagées et les plus pertinentes d’atteindre des avantages compétitifs déterminants. Ceci peut remettre en cause dans les années qui viennent l’ordre établi. Ce postulat concerne également l’industrie pharmaceutique aujourd’hui moins avancée dans le processus de transformation digitale que beaucoup d’autres industries. Mais face aux problèmes rencontrés, l’industrie pharmaceutique se tourne vers une nouvelle dynamique grâce aux opportunités offertes par le digital. Cette thèse se propose de réaliser un état des lieux de la transformation digitale au sein de l’industrie pharmaceutique, d’en analyser les opportunités et les challenges. Ce travail repose d’une part sur la lecture des études et des rapports existants, et d’autre part sur l’analyse de ces études et rapports en les challengeant avec les résultats d’une enquête qualitative menée pour cette thèse (interviews). Ce travail se focalisera sur l’industrie pharmaceutique classique, à savoir globale et de taille moyenne ou grande, mais les influences des bigTechs, GAFA, start-ups, technologies médicales (dispositifs médicaux) ainsi que l’apport des big data alimenteront notre réflexion
