The diagnosis of auto-immune blistering diseases (AIBD) is based on the combination of clinical and paraclinical criteria, however since clinical and histopathological findings may be non-specific, a positive direct immunofluorescence (DIF) is required for the diagnosis. As DIF is not widely available and requires specific conditions of fixation, an alternative simpler procedure using immunohistochemistry (IHC) on formalin-fixed-paraffin-embedded specimens (FFPE) would be interesting.
