International audienceTo estimate the impact of military spending on economic growth and development, a theoretical simultaneous equation model is constructed, using investment, employment, and GDP growth rate equations. On the basis of national information, estimates of the impact of changes in military spending on these explained variables are simulated. The differences between the estimates of the two countries are not always very significant. If the statistical tests are satisfactory, the model is only a limited representation of the complex process that determines investment, unemployment, and growth.
