Giving a language course to a widely heterogeneous group of learners that includes a range of origins, ages, prior educational experience or skill levels, can quickly become a challenge for any beginner or experienced teacher; particularly if the teacher is unprepared, does not teach regularly and if the group changes every week. In these types of situations, how is it possible to set an individual monitoring process and follow a student’s progression? This dissertation focuses on the creation of a tool, inspired by the European Language Portfolio, to record the learners progress. This log book is an empowerment tool that enables any teacher to monitor a student’s progress and provides a means to encourage the development of their studies.D...
