International audienceThis paper explores the social logics that undergird journalistic writings about soccer, a practice that contributes to turn soccer players into a social group with a high media exposure and as such particularly exposed to sanctions. It focuses in particular on what sport chroniclers of daily papers (Le Parisien) – who are the most dominant in this journalistic subfield – do or do not write about professional soccer players. Based upon ethnographic fieldwork, the article sheds light on the new relations between two of the fields that contribute to turning sport into a show.
