This thesis discusses the design, fabrication, assembly and evaluation of an electronic circuit for use with Surface Acoustic Wave (SAW) sensors. A new simplified architecture is presented which eliminates the need for a radio frequency (RF) mixer and easily combines the RF amplifier and digital electronics on a single CMOS integrated circuit.
