Lun Wang Anyi xiao shuo de Shanghai xiang xiang (1995-2018)

M.Phil.Wang Anyi (1954 ) is one of the most prominent novelists of contemporary Chinese literature, she has been writing for over 40 years, and is widely regarded as “the representative of Shanghai narratives.’’ Scholars claim that Shanghai is a recurring theme of Wang’s works. However, they seldom mention how Shanghai from a literary perspective is portrayed by Wang. In addition, either in reality or in the field of literature, “Shanghai imagi nary’’ is often mentioned in connection with the modernity of the city, yet the cityscape other than the modern part, is also worth exploring. Focusing on Wang’s literary works between 1995 and 2018, this thesis aims to analyze how Wang’s works imagine Shanghai city. It sets out to discuss how Wang’s “Shanghai imaginary’’ has outlined the intertwining relationship between “literature’’ and “city.’’This thesis is divided into six chapters. Chapter One gives an introduction on the objectives, scope and methodology of this study. Chapter Two to Chapter Five analyze Wang’s literary works between 1995 and 2018, so as to investigate in what ways these works imagine Shanghai, and how the urban image of Shang hai is shown in these works. Chapter Two focuses on the “de legendization’’ writing strategy of Wang’s novels, elaborating on the formation of mismatch between “old legend’’ and “new era’’ in her works. Chapter Three discusses how the concepts of “literary Shanghai’’ are broadened in Wang’s novels, in the aspects of “spatial condition,’’ “ethnicity construction’’ and “temporal condition.’’ Chapter Four discusses the real and fictitious Shanghai history in Wang’s novels, analyzing how the relationship between city and the spirit of city is outlined in her fiction writings. Chapter Five focuses on how Wang’s novels investigate the relationship between city and civilization, examining Wang’s reflection on urban development and Shanghai imaginary. Chapter Six concludes the study. This thesis holds that Wang’s novels within this period have broadened the prospect of “Shanghai imaginary,’’ explored the possibilities of “Shanghai imaginary’’ apart from its modernity aspect, and clarified the subjectivity of Shanghai as a city in the literary works.王安憶（1954 ）是中國當代文學的重要作家之一，至今創作超過四十年，有「上海敘事代言人」之稱。一般學者認為王安憶的小說反覆書寫上海，但對於王安憶以何種手法呈現「文學上海」，卻鮮有提及。另一方面，無論在現實生活抑或文學領域，「上海想像」往往無法擺脫城市的「現代性」，然而，其摩登一面以外的面貌，亦值得關注。本論文以王安憶 1995 至 2018 年間的小說為研究對象，分析王安憶小說如何展現對於上海城市的想像，並探討王安憶的「上海想像」如何展現「文學」與「 城市」的交互影響。本論文共分六章，內容如下：第一章為緒論，簡介王安憶研究的情況、本論文的研究目的、範圍及方法。第二章至第五章討論王安憶 1995 至 2018年間的小說，探討作品想像上海的方式，及從中所見上海的城市形象。第二章集中討論王安憶小說的「去傳奇化」寫作傾向，兼論王安憶如何展示「舊傳奇」與「新時代」之間的錯位。第三章討論王安憶小說如何從「空間狀態」、「群落建構」和「時間狀態」三方面豐富「文學上海」的形象，分析作品於填補和拼湊「上海想像」上的意義。第四章討論王安憶小說中亦虛亦實的上海歷史，分析王安憶如何以小說的形式來展示城市與城市精神的關聯。第五章關注王安憶小說如何理解城市與文明之間的關係，探討當中對城市發展及上海想像的反思。第六章為總結。本文認為王安憶這 段時期的小說拓闊了「上海想像」的圖景，探索了「上海想像」在現代性以外的其他可能，更闡明了上海作為城市的主體性。陳晟."2019年11月".Thesis M.Phil.
